Strength is the foundation of everything. It makes fat loss easier, protects your joints, improves your posture, and makes the everyday physical demands of your life feel effortless. If you're not actively building it, you're slowly losing it, and after 35 that process accelerates.
I'm Rob Moal, a strength training coach in Vancouver with over 20 years of experience helping busy professionals build real, functional strength. Not gym-bro strength built around a mirror. Strength that carries over to your body, your energy, and your life.
My clients are mostly professionals in their 30s, 40s, and 50s across Downtown Vancouver, Yaletown, Coal Harbour, the West End, Gastown, and the Beach District, training both in-person and online.
They don't need extreme programs. They need a structured, progressive system built around their schedule and their body.
Your program, progress tracking, and coaching are all in one place. No guessing what to do next, no starting over every few weeks. You follow a structured, periodised strength program built for you and adjusted as you progress, whether you're training in the gym or online.
Strength Training In-Person Vancouver
Most people who've been going to the gym for years have never followed a properly structured strength program. That's the difference.
I build programs around compound movements, progressive overload, and your specific movement patterns, so you're always getting stronger, not just maintaining.
Online strength coaching works just as well as in-person for most clients. You get a full periodised program, video form checks, and weekly check-ins. Same structured approach. Same progressive overload. Delivered anywhere in the world
Every client I work with follows a structured program.
Your training, your progress, and your nutrition guidance are all laid out inside the app, so you’re not guessing what to do from session to session.
If you’re training on your own between sessions, traveling, or just working around a busy week, the structure stays the same. That’s what keeps results moving.
Whether you're starting again or looking to level up your training, I'll create a plan built around your schedule, your body, and the results you want.
I've never done proper strength training before — is it too late to start?
Not at all. People in their 40s, 50s, and 60s respond very well to strength training. The earlier you start the better, but it's never too late. I work with beginners regularly and will teach you everything from the ground up.
Do you offer both in-person and online strength coaching?
Yes. I train clients in-person across Vancouver and coach online clients across Canada. Both include a fully periodised program, form coaching, and weekly check-ins.
Where do you train clients in Vancouver?
I work with clients at top facilities including Evolve Strength The Post, and offer mobile training for clients in building gyms across Yaletown, Coal Harbour, the West End, Gastown, and the Beach District.
Will I get bulky from strength training?
No. Building significant muscle mass requires years of dedicated training and specific nutrition. What strength training does is increase muscle density, reduce fat, and improve body composition. Most people look leaner and more athletic, not bulkier.
How many sessions per week do I need?
Three sessions per week is the sweet spot for most clients. That's enough to drive consistent, meaningful strength gains without taking over your schedule.
I have joint pain — can I still strength train?
In most cases yes — and strength training is often the best thing for joint pain when programmed correctly. I'm certified in FMS and corrective exercise, so addressing movement issues is built into every program.
