Fat loss sounds simple on paper. Eat less, move more. The problem is that most people who come to me have already tried that, and it hasn’t worked, or it worked for a while and then stopped, or the weight came back. If that’s where you are, the issue isn’t discipline. It’s the approach.

I’m Rob Moal, a fat loss personal trainer in Vancouver with over 20 years of experience helping people lose fat and keep it off. My clients are mostly busy professionals in their 30s, 40s, and 50s who are serious about getting results but realistic about how much time and energy they have.

I work with clients across Downtown Vancouver, including Yaletown, Coal Harbour, the West End, Gastown, and the Beach District, both in-person and online.

They don’t need extreme programs, they need a system that works within their actual life.

How fast will I lose fat with Train Like Rob?

A safe and sustainable rate is 0.5–1 kg of fat per week. Some clients lose faster in the early weeks depending on starting point and adherence to the nutrition plan. I’ll give you a realistic timeline during your assessment based on your specific goals.

Do you offer both in-person and online personal training?

Yes! I train clients in-person and also coach online across Canada. Both include goal-specific programming, accountability, and full support. Choose what works best for your lifestyle.

Where do you train clients in Vancouver?

I work with clients in top-tier fitness facilities like Evolve Strength The Post, and offer mobile training or coaching from your condo gym (based on location). I also support online clients with structured programs and weekly check-ins.

Do I need to follow a strict diet?

No. I build nutrition frameworks, not rigid meal plans. The goal is to teach you how to eat in a way that supports fat loss without being so restrictive that you can’t maintain it. Flexibility built into the approach from day one.

How many sessions per week do I need?

Most fat loss clients train 3 times per week with me, plus 1–2 lighter activity days on their own. That’s enough to drive real change without taking over your life.

I’ve lost weight before and gained it back, why will this be different?

Because most weight loss approaches focus on restriction, which isn’t sustainable. My approach builds muscle, repairs your relationship with food, and creates habits that hold up long-term. The goal is a body composition change, not just a number on the scale.
